About
Jeanette is a TV screenwriter who is also a qualified Barrister and a former Police Officer and Detective. Her twenty year career has seen her practise predominately in Criminal Law investigating and prosecuting and defending serious crimes, some with extensive media coverage. She also has experience of family court proceedings and inquests.
Aside to screenwriting where she is represented by Julian Friedmann at Blake Friedmann she also provides consultancy services on scripted and unscripted TV shows working closely with writers, producers, script editors and development teams to ensure authenticity whilst striking the balance with 'artistic licence'.

Within Jeanette's practice as a Criminal Barrister she has often been called on in local and national press recently appearing as a contributor 'Expert' on Sky's 'Meet, Marry, Murder' on the Crime & Investigation Channel/Netflix discussing a double murder she was instructed.
Jeanette has extensive experience of working on set with directors and has advised on set on shows such as Jimmy McGovern's 'Time' and 'Unforgivable', Tony Schumacher's 'The Cage', ITV's 'Grace', ITV 'A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story', BBC 'The Gold 2', Netflix 'Toxic Town' and 'Coronation Street'.

Jeanette loves TV and feels it is very important that those involved in producing TV take seriously their responsibility to ensure that it is as current, plausible and authentic as it can possibly be.

You can catch Jeanette discussing this on the Sky News Daily Podcast here 'How do TV Crime Dramas get it right' where she discussed her role in the Happy Valley Tommy Lee Royce's escape court scene.

Jeanette is available as consultant in all areas of your project from initial pitch and treatement to writers room and development. She can provide script notes and advise on set. You can catch her IMDb profile here.

On the side of her consultancy work, Jeanette is working on her own slate of writing projects - you won't be surprised to know that these are based on crime/court stories. In January 2025 she obtained a book deal and is currently hard at work writing a Bio/Memoir of her very interesting journey to become a Barrister which was recently covered in the Times and can be read here.
